As a great lover of photography, becoming a collector of old cameras is only a small step. I live in Cologne, the city where the famous photographers August Sander, Carl-Heinz Chargesheimer and Astrid Klein, among others, worked and still work. When the Photokina was still taking place in Cologne, I regularly visited the exhibition halls to get my hands on the world's latest photographic innovations. This is how I developed an affinity for photographic equipment and everything connected with it. Now I am following the return and rediscovery of analog photography with great interest. I share this fascination and enthusiasm for the perfect form and technology of these old cameras. This gave rise to the idea of photographing my own camera collection and combining it with technical information. I mainly take digital photographs myself. Despite all my enthusiasm for technology, I am of course aware that cameras do not take pictures – people have to do that themselves. But that is another topic.

Als großer Liebhaber der Fotografie, zum Sammler alter Fotoapparate ist es nur ein kleiner Schritt. Ich lebe in Köln, der Stadt in der u.a. die bekannten Fotografen August Sander, Carl-Heinz Chargesheimer und Astrid Klein arbeiteten und arbeiten. Als die Photokina in Köln noch stattfand, besuchte ich regelmäßig die Ausstellungshallen um die Weltneuheiten der Fotografie in den Händen zu halten. So entstand die Affinität zu Fotogerätschaften und mit allem was damit zusammenhängt. Jetzt verfolge ich mit großem Interesse die Rückbesinnung und Neuentdeckung der Analogfotografie. Ich teile diese Faszination und die Begeisterung für form- und technikvollendete Mechanik dieser alten Kameras. So entstand die Idee meine eigene Kamerasammlung zu fotografieren und mit technischen Informationen zu verbinden. Selbst fotografiere ich hauptsächlich digital. Bei aller Technikbegeisterung bin ich mir natürlich bewußt – Kameras machen keine Bilder, das muß der Mensch schon selbst erledigen. Dies ist aber ein anderes Thema.
